Everyone knows that men are from Mars, and women from Venus, especially married couples! There are not many similarities between the two genders, especially regarding their health and bodies. However both men and women should feel confident about themselves, and women especially need to know how to take good care of her body. As a woman, you too should know about these ways to boost women’s health.
Follow a healthy lifestyle
This is most important for a woman. You need to follow as natural a diet as you can with more of fresh fruits and vegetables, sufficient proteins and carbohydrates and a healthy blend of antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. Eat more of whole grains and high-fiber foods and lean cuts of meat and poultry and fish. Based on your age, you need between 800-1500mg of calcium everyday to help prevent the onset of osteoporosis. It goes without saying that you need to avoid eating junk and processed foods, fried and sweet foods and even too much salt as they are all high in unnecessary calories and unhealthy for the body. A healthy diet with regular exercise for at least 30 minutes a day helps maintain a healthy weight which is important as obesity can lead to various illnesses. If you do not get sufficient vitamins and nutrients through your diet, your doctor will prescribe a calcium and multivitamin supplement to help you maintain your health.
Women go through so much stress, which isn’t surprising as you have to juggle between so many roles in a day. You are a mother, boss, employee, wife, daughter, driver, cook, nurse and the list goes on! Stress is thus inevitable to women which is why you need to know how to manage your stress. You need to make it a point to relax at least a few minutes a day as it helps get your perspective back again. It’s up to you to choose how to relax; it could be listening to music, meditation, yoga, pursuing your hobby or just about anything which helps you forget about your stress and relax! However do not make the mistake of smoking, using drugs or drinking too much of alcohol to handle stress’.. Alcohol is safe for women’s health only if you know and can drink in moderation, which is 1.5 ounces of spirits, 5 oz. of wine or 12 oz. of beer.
Whether you like it or not, regular doctor visits are necessary for optimal women’s health. This is because women are prone to various health risks like breast and uterus cancer. Prevention is always better than cure; so it’s better to first consult with your doctor to find out if you are in danger of having these problems. Women also have to regularly have pelvic exams and pap smears to find out, and eradicate any reproductive system problems. While it’s no longer recommended to carry out monthly breast self-exams to check for breast cancer, you should note any changes in your breasts and report anything abnormal to your doctor. It’s also better if you have a mammogram every year as it is the most effective means of detecting cancer in its earlier, treatable stages.
